There are times when teenagers make decisions that may have long-term consequences. Consensual sex or sexual activity by teenagers is one particular cause for concern. During the adolescent years, emotions are intense and due to poor judgement. Peer pressure or sexual grooming - knowingly/unknowingly they may indulge in romantic affairs and sexual activities that constitute an offence under law as minor lack the legal capacity to consent.
As a parent, you might then ask “Will my teenage child (son) get arrested for having consensual sex?“
In India, the law is clear on age of consent. Anyone who has sex with a minor girl or engages in sexual activity with a minor girl risks being charged with a sexual offence.
